Buckle up, all you Volvo-driving parents: the staid Swedish car maker is promising you the drive of your life. From this week buyers will be able to go online and take a virtual test-drive of its newest car, which won’t be in showrooms until the end of summer.

Conceived by designer Kubik Petr, the vehicle holds only two passengers with a minimal amount of luggage. It’s driven by two electric motors connected to the vehicle’s back wheels. The car would be built from the lightest of materials and can operate for up to 20 hours.

It looks, in a word, stunning. We’ve seen the One-77’s gilled, sculpted exterior before, but take a look at that hand-crafted interior – the woven seats, the silvery switchgear, the leather, the carbon fibre. Not bad, eh? We’re assuming the grubby footwell isn’t standard issue, but we’re quite happy with the rest of it.
The One-77 is set to go on sale next year, armed with a 7.0-litre V12 putting out around 700bhp. Aston says all 77 examples have already been sold – at a cost of around £1.2 million apiece.
